Although there is a strong dairy focus, RD1 has also established a dry stock farming and lifestyle offering in recent years, hence its byline for the farmyard and the backyard. It not only provides rural products but is also able to advise the local dairy industry and an increasing number of lifestyle customers. RD1's technical sales representative Arthur Short is more than happy to give in-store advice or make an on- farm visit if required. Arthur has been work- ing in the district for five years so has a broad knowledge of the area and can be contacted on 027 233 1683 or through the store. Sales assistants Michelle Treadwell, Kory Parlane, Carolyn Flood and Chris Walls make up the team and are there to help with your require- ments or point you in the right direction. Memorable farewell for Rotarian Goodbye John: Rotarians farewell John Harris at their 2012 Christmas party. John Harris is well known and hugely res- pected in Kerikeri. For many years he was vicar of St James' Church and a Justice of the Peace giving him a personal connection with so many people in the locality. He led the food bank team giving sup- port to families during difficult times and was an active member of Waipapa Rotary. In 2012 John and his wife Pat decided it was time to slow down a little and retired to Wark- worth. Fate then took a ter- rible toll when Pat was taken ill and sadly died. John was able to return to Waipapa to join his old Rotary Club for their festive end to 2012. A Christmas party held at The Bay Sports Pavilion saw Rotarians, their partners and friends having a great party finishing with a Secret Santa present ses- sion. John's gift from Santa was a montage of photo- graphs depicting some of the many events he was involved in during his time in Kerikeri. A strong and chari- table man, John spilled a tear or two as he opened the memento and was farewelled with a stand- ing ovation.
