Family heart of Siteworx firm Family matters: Dean McCaughan and son Michael at the Siteworx yard in Waipapa. Think Siteworx North- land, think family -- that s certainly what owner/operator Sean McCaughan had in mind when he started his busi- ness in Waipapa more than 10 years ago. But the family history goes back further than that with Sean s grand- parents originally living and operating a contrac- ting business in the area more than 60 years ago. They owned nearly 160 hectares of land back then and even have a road named after them off Kapiro Rd. In the beginning, Sean managed his business remotely with a staff of three while living in Auckland, before making the permanent move back to Waipapa. Now Siteworx has a staff of 11, including wife Jane and sons Brady and Michael, a former head boy of Springbank School. Originally the com- pany operated earthmov- ing and construction works along with the supply of materials. These days Siteworx Northland has diversi- fied, incorporating the supply and/or installa- tion of Humes drainlay- ing products and Oasis Clearwater wastewater treatment systems and is the sole distributors of the latter for Northland. They also carry out servicing of Oasis systems and hold a Min- istry of Health certificate for the distribution of tanked water. The company is now split between commer- cial and domestic works, allowing it to cover any job from a truck load of metal for the driveway to infrastructure work for large civil engineering projects, and has carried out many major council contracts. Siteworx carries a vast range of heavy haulage equipment which it is constantly renewing and replacing. Sean is a classic car enthusiast and part-time boatie if he gets a spare moment. Siteworx Northland is in Kapiro Rd, Waipapa, phone 09 407 3184 or visit siteworx.co.nz.
