That was back in November 1996 and thus Bay of Islands Computers, Kaikohe was born. They've come a long way since then with a sister shop in Waipapa which opened in November 2007 and was one of the first shops in the Waipapa Village Mall. Bay of Islands Computers provides a local service that looks after all your computer needs for home or business or school, including sales of all computer -- related equipment, service and repairs of computers, regular support, network design, and network infrastructure. More recently wireless networks have become a specialty, with the business providing networks for schools, motels and other businesses, and even linking areas within towns. Bay of Islands Computers are not just shop-based and their four technicians will travel to where they are needed. They have sorted computer problems in a tar truck and on a barge in the Bay of Islands. Dolphins play among the racing. Photos: WILL CALVER, OCEANPHOTOGRAPHY.CO.NZ Battle begins: Right: Tight competition in division A at the Bay of Islands Sailing Week. The CRC Bay of Islands Sail- ing week kicked off on Janu- ary 23 in beautiful sunny weather. Behind the scenes the pre- race setup took place the day before beginning at 7am. By mid-morning the main 40x70 metre North Sails marquee was erected at Opua Marina. There was also a smaller food tent, bar, race huts and media room where all were busy getting ready for the official influx of 70 regis- tered boats. The event attracted boats of all sizes including Simon Hull and the crew of Team Vodafone who arrived on Monday evening after a fast ride up the coast. And so to the racing with 70 excited crews ready to roll. The sports boat start was all clear and the racing began in a steady 10-knot wind in somewhat lumpy seas. Competition was fierce in all divisions with the crew of local boat Kia Kaha bringing home the bacon in all of their three races in division A on day one. Visit bayofislandssailing week.org.nz for full compe- tition results. The regatta is one of New Zealand's most popular yachting events and is open to keelers, multihulls, trailer sailers, sports and open keelboats, with competitive racing over three days. Courses are designed to suit the various divisions with a range of windward/ leeward triangle races and bay races that use the many natural obstacles in the Bay of Islands. Cruising yachts and crews are encouraged to join the competition in the passage divisions. Every year hundreds of competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy an amazing array of course options among some of the most beautiful sailing waters New Zealand has to offer.
