Kaikohe folk celebrate the rural life Clean ride: Gillian Hayes clears a jump at the showgrounds. Yee-ha!: Lana Menary, 5, gives the mechanical bull a go at the Kaikohe A&P show on Saturday. Lana came up from Auckland for the weekend to visit with her father's family. Good boy: Ann Kenny leads her 41G2-year-old border collie cross heading dog Cameron through the dog agility course. Shorn: Left: Neil Sidwell finishes his last sheep at the day's sheep shearing competitions, the announcer marvelled that his work was so clean ''you could almost eat your breakfast off it''. Scaring the birds: This year's top scarecrow had a real artistic flair. Old timey: Right: Trevor Bedggood took kids on a tour of the grounds on his 1900 Grout replica, the gold coin donations made by the kids went to Kaikohe's Pioneer Village. Star of the show: It was the animals as much as the people who were the stars of the show at the 50th Kaikohe A&P Show at the weekend. The Kaikohe A&P Show had great weather at the weekend, but smiles outweighed the sunshine at the classic Far North event.
