Within a few hours the books are returned to the container for next year's event, sent to a charity distributing books to Third World countries or sadly culled into a skip for recycling. Rotary is an inter- national service organis- ation. Clubs throughout the world organise all man- ner of projects, events and support for their local, national and inter- national communities and truly global projects like the eradication of polio. To fund the charitable works your local Waipapa Rotary Club organises the Annual Book Fair. All Waipapa Rotary members are involved in the fair and the club is always looking for new members to join this happy and busy group. Older person recognised On December 14, 1990, the UN General Assembly made October 1 the International Day of Older Persons which is now recognised world- wide. Age Concern Mid North invites you to a day of entertainment and reminiscing from 10am to 1pm, October 5, at the Kaikohe Heritage and Pioneer Village. Lunch can be pur- chased at the village.
