Absent: Darrian Paniora and Kawiti Tipene. A small but dedicated Kai- kohe cadet team has beaten the odds to come home with the coveted Drill Cup after a star performance at the Advance Training Centre competition in Auckland. Kaitaia, Kaikohe, Waikato and two teams from Auck- land battled it out in North Harbour for the Drill, Chal- lenge and Terminator cups. Kaikohe manager Shane Harrison says the Drill Cup is the most sought after and difficult to win. Our team is the smallest, least resourced and our youth face some tough challenges so we are incredibly proud that they won a cup, it's a great achievement.'' This is the first time a Kai- kohe team has won a cup at the competition and it also came third in the Terminator Cup, a military-style confi- dence course. Our small team performed the drill sequence alongside Kaitaia so we'd like to acknowledge them too, Mr Harrison says. But overall Kaikohe was awarded the Drill Cup for its outstanding perform- ance.'' Trainees are working towards joining the army, air force, navy or police.
