Story of the Treaty House The second in a series of new books outlining Waitangi's unique place in the history of New Zealand was launched at the Treaty House at Wai- tangi on August 28. The book The Story of the Treaty House encap- sulates the voyage through time of one of New Zealand's earliest European homes and its associations with the family of James Busby, who held office at Wai- tangi as British Resident from 1833 until 1840. The new book was launched by the immedi- ate past chairman of the Waitangi National Trust Board Jeremy Williams and board operations and development com- mittee chairman David Jefferd. Both are direct descendants of James Busby and the early Bay of Islands missionary Henry Williams. Written by the trust's chief executive Jeanette Richardson, the book follows the Treaty House from its kitset origins in Sydney, Australia, to its current role as an iconic reminder of our rise to nationhood.
