Breaking, popping, locking, krumping, turf- ing, old skool, new skool, it s all going to be on at the Memorial Hall Friday, September 23. The divine dance stu- dio, Demonstr8 da flow, is presenting a hip hop concert followed by a Teenage Rage for the youth. The event is the brain child of 21-year-old Kai- kohe business woman, Alannah Curtis, who has been operating her newly-named Demonstr8 da Flow dance studio for the past two years. This will be the first event of its kind here and I m hoping it catches on and becomes a reg- ular event, Ms Curtis says. Entry to the Teenage Rage is $5 and it s restricted to 13 to 17--year-olds but anyone is welcome to check out the dancers. Ms Curtis trained in Maori contemporary dance at AUT and regu- larly attends training sessions in Auckland. I like to keep up with the new styles and learn from international talent who come to New Zea- land to teach, such as Britney Spears chor- eographer. The experience is pay- ing off with 10 classes and 55 students and Ms Curtis has plans to expand into Whangarei. Contact Alannah 0800- 123-084 or 027-222-5574 for more information.
