Two great Plus sized brands in one location Fever-pitch: Kaeo primary school kids in the line-up. All Black idols visit All Blacks greet the Kaeo crowd: Tony Woodcock, Piri Weepu and Sonny Bill Williams. The little town of Kaeo turned out in force last week to welcome their idols, All Blacks Piri Weepu, Tony Woodcock and Sonny Bill Williams. Kaeo primary school kids dressed up and held cards with a special message for their favour- ite players. We ve been studying the RWC, 10-year-old Shine Fulton says. And we re really excited the All Blacks are coming here. It s the best thing that s happened in Kaeo. We re the biggest rugby fans and Eric Rush s nephew is in our school. Ten-year-old Chad Boyed agrees that Kaeo is rugby mad. Most of the Kaeo grades are in the top in rugby and everyone loves rugby here. While the girls adore Sonny, the boys are adamant, Piri s our favourite, eight- year-old Josh Whyte says. When asked who was going to win the cup, the response was unanimous -- The All Blacks! After visiting the town, the trio headed to Kaeo Rugby Club for a formal welcome. Backing summer sport Bringing back summer sports: Siblings Glen Ross and Suzee Wingrove have plans to keep the kids busy this summer. Born and bred in Kai- kohe Glen Ross and Suzee Wingrove have returned home with the same vision in mind. They want to see kids meaningfully occupied in sports and learning social skills, fundamental move- ment and leadership skills. The brother and sis- ter team are descen- dants of the Byers and Ross family who have been a large part of sporting history in Kai- kohe. Glen and Suzee were brought up with a love for sport and are the next generation to step up and do their part. Summer sports have been thin in our town for a while now and it will be great to see Lindvart Park busy again during the sum- mer season, Glen says. The Lindvart Park Kidz Sports Expo showed a huge amount of kids interested in wanting to join up to softball and tennis, so we have been planning for the last six months to get something up and running for Kai- kohe, Suzee says. Summer games soon to be offered at Lindvart Park are softball, tennis, table tennis and plans for cricket are in the pipe- line. Parents are wel- come to register their children for cricket so Glen can start basic training and can pass on names to Northland Cricket who will be running cricket even- ings in Kaikohe shortly. For details on days and times, see scores and draws P23. To book call Suzee and Glen on 021-298-7290 email winupnth@xtra. co.nz or visit www.kidsportz. org.nz/index.php.
