Coopers Beach Club Coopers Beach Bowling Club recently finished their second six week session of twilight bowls which attracted 19 teams made up of friends, family, work mates or sports groups. The format for each evening was two games of six ends of two bowl triples. Any bowlers were handicapped and handicaps for all team were reviewed each week, some being plus and some minus, keeping everyone on their toes. With the excellent weather, we had our usual band of Swallows (English migrants) enjoy their escape from the cold to join in with our loyal supporters of past years and new comers for six weeks of fun, with raffles, sausage sizzle and lucky team draws each week. Eleven keen people made the opening night AGM and roll up. Elected this season are, president Ron Penney, secretary Heather Tobin, treasurer Julia Penney and match committee Raewyn Hurst, Ingrid Munford and Yvonne Hamilton. With shoes dusted down, the opening night got under way. Everyone's bowling settled down with some ends gathering tight clusters of balls competing to be closest to the Kitty. BADMINTON Kaikohe Meets every Thursday at the Kaikohe Memorial Hall. Juniors run from 6pm- 7pm followed by the senior players. All equipment is available on the night. Fun tournaments are held from time to time and in the later part of the season there are championship trophy competitions. If you are interested, come along and have some fun and exercise.
