Josh and several of his ex-high school teammates were selected in the New Zealand ki-o-rahi team which toured Europe this year. The planning, training and fundraising for the tour was intensive but Josh still finished his last series of exams with an A average. The tour was great. It was about taking the wairua of our ancestors and networking with the European players who have been guardians of our game since World War Two. Our focus was to play well, perform kapa haka and mentor. We made heaps of friends and introduced many people to ki-o-rahi with our games and exhibitions in Paris, London, and Freibourg.'' The New Zealanders were unbeaten and the men's team had the distinction of fielding legend Buck Shelford in their test team.
