Centre fours decided at Kerikeri And the winners are: The men and women of Bowls Far North celebrate their wins. The finals of the Bowls Far North centre fours for both men and woman were completed at the Kerikeri Bowling Club on Sunday. The winners of the women's fours with both lives intact were the Kerikeri com- bination of Linda Pedro, Lyn McKeating, Christine Hodren and Ellaine Albury, who defeated Coopers Beach's Dawn King, Ngaire Watts, Glennis Ansley and Margaret Wildbore. The format was 15 com- pleted ends/no time limit. The game could have gone either way with the score 8-9 on the 12th end but the Kerikeri team claimed four shots to take the title 12-10. The men's section saw skip Dan Dickison (Kerikeri), and Merv Kennedy (Kaeo) with two lives, and one lifers Paul Vegar (Kerikeri) and Donny Holmes (Kaikohe) remaining after the first day. In the first round Dan took a life off Merv while Paul eliminated Donny, the next round Dan had the bye into the final while Paul defeated Merv. In the final round, Dan Dickison and team- mates David Hood, Derek Guerin, Chris Price came up against club mates Paul Vegar, Ian Holley, Trevor Dyer, and Tiki Pedro. There was some great draw bowls and the score was 12-12 on the last end. An extra end had to be played with the final score 13-12 to Dan and his team with both lives still intact. Congratulations to them, and they will now go forward to the Pathways in March at Kerikeri. Special thanks to the host clubs Kaeo/ Kerikeri for the use of their facilities.
