First to tie knot Bliss: The first couple to be married in the Kaikohe Pioneer Village's renovated historic Methodist Church were Natasha Ngapera and Isaac Maligi. The pair tied the knot in front of family and friends on Saturday. Pastor Doug Serens officiated. The bride's parents are Damian and Colleen Ngapera of Kaikohe. Handcuffed driver escapes from police A handcuffed man who gave police the slip last week is back in custody but they are searching for the stolen car he was driving. Police stopped the sil- ver Nissan Cefiro (reg No ECH457) near Paihia on Friday. The driver, a 20-year- old Kaikohe man, was handcuffed but escaped from a patrol car while police were dealing with the other three occupants of the Nissan who later drove off. He was found yester- day without the hand- cuffs and charged. Police are keen to hear from anyone with information about the location of the car which contained car radios and other appliances.
