10 NORTHERN NEWS, JANUARY 21, 2015 PUBLIC NOTICE POWER OUTAGE 8AM – 6PM KAITAIA AND SURROUNDING DISTRICTS SUNDAY 1 FEBRUARY 2015 Top Energy needs to carry out essential maintenance work on the main electricity transmission line that supplies Kaitaia and the surrounding districts. This work is due partly to damage caused by the storm of July 2014 and partly to our ongoing network expansion and modernisation programme designed to bring greater reliability of supply to these areas. This means we will have to cut power to Kaitaia and the surrounding districts on Sunday 1 February.The alternative date, in case we need to postpone due to bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, is Sunday 15 February. THERE WILL BE TWO OUTAGES ONTHE DAY: Outage 1 will last for nine hours from 8am to 5.00pm. The areas affected by Outage 1 include: • All districts north of the Mangamuka Ranges. • Kaitaia District including Kaitaia, Ahipara, Wainui, Pukepoto, Victoria Valley, Peria, Peria Valley, Fern Flat, Honeymoon Valley, Mangatoetoe, Paranui, Takahue, Diggers Valley, Waiotehue, Fairburn, Pamapuria, Rangitihi. • Far North area including Awanui, California Hill, Kaingaroa, Parapara, Oruru, Kohumaru, Waipapakauri, Waimanoni, Paparore,Waiharara, Kaimaumau, Motutangi, Houhora Heads, Pukenui, Houhora, Waihopo, Ngataki, Te Kao, Paua, Te Paki, Waitiki Landing, Te Hapua, Henderson Bay. • North Hokianga (excluding Kohukohu, Motukaraka, Te Hua Hua and Creamery Road) including, Herekino, Manukau, Awaroa, Whangape, Broadwood, Paponga, Motuti, Tapuwae, Te Karae, Runaruna, Panguru, Pawarenga, Te Karaka, Rotokakahi, Rangi Point, Mitimiti and all side roads within these districts. • Karikari Peninsula beyond Simon Urlich Road turnoff, including Whatawhiwhi, Matai Bay and parts of Tokerau Beach. Outage 2 will last for approximately one hour after 5pm to allow us to switch some customers over from the generators at Taipa back onto the Top Energy Network, and carry out important maintenance testing of some equipment. The areas affected include: East Coast area including Cable Bay, Chucks Cove, Coopers Beach, Fairburn, Fern Flat, Hihi, Honeymoon Valley, Kaitaia, Kenana, Kohumaru, Mangonui, Mill Bay, Oruaiti, Oruru, Paewhenua Island, Pamapuria, Paranui, Parapara, Peria, Taipa PREPARING FOR THE OUTAGES 1 2 3 4 5 Turn off all electronic appliances (microwaves, TVs, DVDs, computers etc.) If you are reliant on electricity for medical support equipment please contact your medical provider for advice. Lift and store enough drinking water from personal water wells before the power goes off. Fill up your gas cylinder for the BBQ and your petrol tank – remember pumps and EFTPOS won’t work. Treat all powerlines and electrical wiring as being live at all times. Be aware that restoration could occur at any time without notification.
